Das Ende der Träume ist aller Anfang

An impressionistic fairy tale

A young jazz pianist with a new instrument in the boot of his car, on a direct route towards his music – and towards exactly the right place for himself. That, at least, is how Binjamin imagines his journey south after his musical surroundings have dissolved into thin air. He has no idea that this journey into a southern country will confront him with his own open identity and hold more than one point of pain. Nor that the surrender of a great love is waiting for him, and the lethargy of a winter sleep.

“Das Ende der Träume” is a novel on two levels: a coming-of-age road story into the past, and the story of an awakening in the present. In both, the mysterious Calypso is at his side, the only one who seems to know Binjamin's destiny – and the boundary-breaking power of dreams. When a musician travels in dreams, experience shows itself as rhythm, interval, tone and tension. Perhaps like a piece of music.
